Overview 

Package 6 is a 23-day pilgrimage that will take pilgrims to France.

This package includes

• Round trip flight Montreal-Lyon / Lisbon-Montreal with Transat 
• Bus transfers according to the itinerary 
• Contribution for the stay in Taizé (5 nights accommodation, meals and activities) 
• 3 nights accommodation in hotels – 2 nights in Lourdes and 1 night in Santiago 
• 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners 
• Guided tour of the Lourdes sanctuary 
• Guided tour of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela

itinerary

Day 1: Departure from Montreal – 07/18/2023

Departure from P.E. Trudeau airport, Montreal, for your flight with Transat

Day 2: LYON-TAIZÉ – 07/19/2023

Arrival at Lyon Saint Exupéry airport, welcome and transfer by bus to Taize (1h20 drive). Installation in your accommodation. Participation in the life of the community.

Coming to Taize is an invitation to seek communion with God through common prayer, singing, silence, personal meditation and sharing.

A stay in Taizé can be an opportunity to take a step back from one’s daily life, to meet very diverse people and to reflect on a commitment in the Church and in society.

During a stay in Taizé, everyone participates in the community life and in the proposed program.

Day 6: TAIZÉ – LOURDES – 07/23/2023

After breakfast, departure by bus to Lourdes (750 km). Settle into your accommodation. Torchlight procession in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Lourdes.

Day 7: LOURDES – 07/24/23

After breakfast, visit of the sanctuary city: from the famous Grotto of the apparitions to the church of Saint Bernadette, passing by the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, let’s discover the sanctuaries of Lourdes which total 22 places of worship and gathering. Mass in the morning. In order to better understand the message of the grotto, it is worthwhile, in the afternoon, to walk in the footsteps of Bernadette Soubirous, the little girl from Lourdes who, for more than a century and a half, “made the world go by” as the guardians of public order reproached her: the dungeon, her father’s house, the Boly mill, St. Bernadette’s Hospice. Rest of the day free. Dinner and overnight stay. (PD/S)

Day 8: LOURDES – SAINT JACQUES DE COMPOSTELLE – 07/25/2023

After breakfast, departure by bus to Santiago de Compostela (880 km). Installation at your accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: SANTA JACQUES DE COMPOSTELLE – HOME DIOCESE – 07/26/2023

In the morning, guided tour of the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, mass, then drive to the host diocese (within 200 km of Porto).

Catechesis morning, WYD Youth Festival events.

Day 17: WYD Lisbon – 03/08/2023

Morning Catechesis, Welcome Ceremonies of the Holy Father.

Day 18: WYD Lisbon – 04/08/2023

Morning catechesis, WYD Youth Festival events, and Way of the Cross.

Day 19: WYD Lisbon – 05/08/2023

Pilgrimage walk, prayer vigil with the Holy Father.

Day 20: WYD Lisbon – 06/08/2023

Morning Mass with the Pope, pilgrimage walk to accommodation.

Day 21: Lisbon – rest day – 07/08/2023

Rest day to enjoy the beach and/or walk around Lisbon.

Day 22: LISBON – FATIMA – LISBON – 08/08/2023

Day trip to Fatima. Visit to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, a major world center of pilgrimage since the recognition by the Catholic Church, in 1930, of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary received by three little shepherds in the village of Fatima in the year 1917.

In the afternoon, time for a free visit to Fatima (small train ($), houses of the saints, Way of the Cross…).

Return to Lisbon at the end of the day. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon.

Day 23: RETURN FLIGHT – 09/08/2023

Transfer to Lisbon airport for your return flight.
